It is humbling to think about how much things have changed in the last 5 years. Whether we look at our world or our personal lives, 5 years is a long time.
On October 17th the Doylestown Christian Runners (DCR) celebrated our 5 year anniversary. There are many wonderful stories that have come out of the DCR during this time. The most notable are the many friendships that have been formed as a result of individuals getting together on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
It has been a blessing to see how the Holy Spirit has used DCR to help neighbors meet, have members of the same church come to know one another, and allow those who were signed up for the same race to find a friend to train with.
Together, the group has helped others beyond and within DCR. There is the story of one couple taking in an exchange student from another country as a result of a discussion on a run. Personally I was thankful when members helped support my wife and our family when she was injured in 2011.
While DCR is first and foremost a group of Christians who happen to enjoy running, there are many benefits to being part of a running group. These include helping improve performance by learning valuable lessons, gaining advice on nutrition or injuries, and having the powerful motivation to get out and run when you know others are looking forward to seeing you.
If you enjoy running but have avoided running with others, I pray you will consider joining us if you live in the Doylestown, Pennsylvania area. If this is not convenient for you, try to find a group in your area and join them when you can.
Thank you to everyone who has been supportive of Doylestown Christian Runners. We look forward to seeing you on the next 3rd Saturday of the month in the parking lot of Starbucks near ACME.
God Bless and keep running,
